“Auction of Love” to Benefit Gifts
of Love
The community is invited to “Auction of Love” to benefit
Gifts of Love on Friday, February 6th from 6:00-9:00pm at the
Avon Senior Center. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Gifts of
Love, which helps families in the Greater Hartford area.
The event will feature a silent and live auction of “one
of a kind” rocking chairs, which have been sponsored and created by local
businesses, organizations, schools, churches and artists. Damon Scott, 96.5 TIC
FM Radio Host, will be the guest auctioneer. In addition, the event will feature
many activities for children to see and do, including: an Amber Alert booth
sponsored by the Avon Police Department, Ben & Jerry’s ice Cream, art
projects, live entertainment, and a special visit from “Rocky” the Rock Cat. In
addition, there will be door prizes, a teacup auction, hors' dourves, beer and
wine. A fun event for a wonderful cause!
Founded in 1989, the mission of
Gifts of Love is to “help meet the basic needs of individuals and families
experiencing temporary financial crisis so that they can achieve or maintain
self-sufficiency. Our clients are hard working people who simply can’t make ends
meet.” By helping families meet their most basic needs – food on the table, a
winter coat, or a bed to sleep in– Gifts of Love enables them to focus on
putting their lives back in order and regaining their independence. Gifts of
Love annually distributes over $300,000 of goods and services to neighbors
in need. For 20 years, Gifts of Love has directly touched the lives of
thousands of people in the Greater Hartford area, including residents of over 30
Connecticut towns.
“Auction of Love” ticket cost is $10 adults; $5 children
