I had a black bear wonder through my backyard last week. It was a young bear, maybe two or three years old, but still a sizable animal. The bear didn't have any tags in it's ear. The DEP has a form set up to report sightings here http://www.depdata.ct.gov/wildlife/sighting/bearrpt.htm
