We invite you to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of CONCORA's summer Festival with a concert of great music by composers of the 20th century and beyond.
Choral singers from all over the state will join conductor Richard Coffey and members of CONCORA for a week of rehearsing and camraderie, and they'll share their joy of singing on July 26, with the Festival concert. Works to be performed include Aaron Copland's "The Promise of Living," from The Tender Land, Ralph Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music, excerpts from Frostiana by Randall Thompson, "Make our Garden Grow" from Leonard Bernstein's Candide, and a brand-new composition by Vermont composer Gwyneth Walker, "A Heart in Hiding ('the passionate love poems of Emily Dickinson')," a work in six movements for mezzo-soprano solo, chorus, and piano.
Joining Maestro Coffey and the Festival chorus will be pianists Jason Charneski, Director of Music and the Arts at Center Church, Hartford, and Joseph D'Eugenio, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Greater Middletown Chorale.
Brown Auditorium at Avon Old Farms School is fully accessible.
