Once again,
Riverton is being transformed for the upcoming holidays. During
the weekend of December 4th, 5th and 6th, the Riverton Merchants will
be holding their annual Christmas in Riverton celebration, which
includes a Friday night candlelight wine tour and many family and
children's events on Saturday.
Also in Riverton throughout the weekend, the RIverton Theater and
the Riverton Congregational Church will be sponsoring A Christmas
Carol, with the proceeds to benefit the Tiny Tim Fund. Their
performances always sell out, so get your tickets quickly before they
are gone.
The Barkhamsted Historical Society is sponsoring A Holiday Social on
Saturday, December 5th and Sunday December 6th, at the Squire’s Tavern, the
home of the Historical Society. The Tavern will be aglow with
Christmas trees of Christmas past and present as the Historical Society
hosts for the third year, Christmas at the Tavern.
Patti Kierys, who is well versed on the subject of Christmas will decorate a Victorian
Christmas tree with hand crafted ornaments of the period. Other trees
to spark the imagination of the viewers are various color feather
trees, cookie tree and a cotton batting tree. There will be vintage
postcards, calling cards, and other memorabilia on display.
For more information on all of these events, please check out the Riverton Merchants website (http://www.rivertonct.com/) and the Barkhamsted Historical Society website (http://barkhamstedhistory.org).
