Looking for artisans/crafters in the area

    HI,

I am not sure where I am going with this yet, but I would like to meet (IRL or online) with artisans (painters, sculptors, pottery makers, jewelrymakers, bead makers, knitters and other fiber artists - as long as you make something). If you sell somewhere, have tips on craft shows, want to talk about arts the area, and where everyene hangs out to do there thing, I would love to talk about it here.

About me: I am a graphic designer who does crafts on the side of my fulltime gig. I moved here two years ago and am still trying to find my nche in the area. I knit, paint, make jewelry, needlefelt and am always trying new things. I sell online at http://sunfleur1.etsy.com (that's only one of my shops) look up sunfleur1 in google and you will find me and my stuff.

Introduce yourself. Show off your work!

    Hi Sunfleur1,

What a great idea! My wife and I have been active with arts and crafts over the years. We are presently painting a full wall mural in my office. We lived in California for a while and use to make and sell hand painted wooden animals, mostly dogs. I made the dogs and my wife painted them very realistically. We developed quite an extensive catalog of breed specific dogs and marketed them as Wood-Be-Friends. Mostly consignment shops in San Francisco, Sausalito and Tiburon. I still have all of the patterns and may resurrect them one day. We also tried our hand at silk painting. I'll post some pictures of the mural once we're done.

Anyway, we participated in the Sonoma County Art Trails Open Studios. It's a great idea to promote local artist. A couple weekends a year, participating artist open their studios to the public. Art enthusiast then travel from studio to studio. I don't think there is any thing like that in the Farmington Valley (don't hold me to it) but, if not....

    Welcome to the site.

    Richard

Thanks for your reply Richard. I am glad to be here and I hope this little space on the InterWeb takes off. It would be nice to see some more community in the area online or IRL.
