Nutmeg Woodwind Quintet Concert, Oct. 26, 3 p.m.
Avon, Ct.  --- You are invited to a benefit concert by the Nutmeg Woodwind Quintet, on October 26, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. The concert will be held at Avon Congregational Church’s Fellowship Hall, 6 West Main Street, Avon, Ct. The church is located at the intersection of Route 44 and Route 10. There will be a free will offering for Heifer Project International, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to this program.

The concert will include music by Mozart, Copeland, Beethoven, and Haydn. In addition, there will be music by American composer W.C. Handy, known especially for his “St. Louis Blues,” by Aaron Copland, “the dean of American composers,” and by Ennio Morricone, an Academy-award winning Italian composer.

Performing in the Nutmeg Woodwind Quintet will be Lisa Eells, flute; Peter Wortman, oboe; Warren Gedstad, clarinet; Gary Mau, French horn, and Dr. Bill Willett, bassoon. Following the concert, there will be the opportunity to talk to the musicians.

The Nutmeg Woodwind Quartet, founded in 2002, performs at a variety of venues (private parties, church services, full concerts) throughout the Farmington Valley and Greater Hartford.
