Representative Felipe Reinoso, D-Bridgeport, has introduced a bill that would give illegal aliens living in Connecticut the same in-state tuition rate as legal residents. A similar bill has also been introduced by Senator Looney, 11th District, New Haven. Both are presented below.

AN ACT PROVIDING IN-STATE TUITION TO CHILDREN OF IMMIGRANTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 10a-29 of the general statutes be amended to allow the children of immigrants residing in the state to attend the public institutions of higher education as in-state students for tuition purposes.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide in-state tuition to children of immigrants.

Why doesn't the statement of purpose read: To provide in-state tuition to children of Illegal Aliens? That is who he is talking about. Legal immigrants living in Connecticut would already be eligible for in-state tuition rates.

AN ACT CONCERNING ACCESS TO POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 10a-29 of the general statutes be amended to allow the children of undocumented immigrants residing in the state to attend Connecticut community-technical colleges as in-state students for tuition purposes.
Statement of Purpose:
To increase access to post secondary education for the children of undocumented immigrants residing in Connecticut.

Here Looney is using the politically correct term "undocumented immigrants". Last time I checked undocumented meant Illegal. His bill is aimed specifically at community colleges and technical schools. (Trying to get a foot in the door?)
